Travelling Book Project

Dorchester Middle School, Dorchester, Dorset, UK is launching a Travelling Book Project. The idea of this project is to send a book around the world (posting on 11/02/10 ) and to ask the recipients to fill in 6 pages about themselves / their school / community / country.

DCA (Dorset Community Action) has identified 8 countries where they have connections, so that they can choose the recipients and then plot how the book travels.  They are obviously dependent on each recipient sticking to the ‘Instructions’ and timings, otherwise the book might not return in time for the Dorchester One World Festival 2010 event on 8 August where it will be on display.

The book is expected to arrive in Fiji at the end of March. It will be going to Lovoni Primary School on the island of Ovalau in the Fiji Islands.

The book's journey starts in the UK and then travels via Holland, USA, Fiji, Australia, Thailand, Bangladesh and then back to the UK. En route, couriers will be collecting material from The Sudan, Dubai and Japan

There is space on the DCA website (www.dorsetcommunityaction.org.uk/travellingbook ) to plot the progress of the book and post updates and information. When the book is returned to the UK it will be scanned and printed and copies sent to the participants, Embassies and schools.

Children of Fiji is pleased to be involved with this very worthwhile project.
